I. Executive Committee Reports

A. President’s Report – Brother Roberts
Thank you Executive Committee for hosting today’s meeting. Thank you Brother Vance for allowing us to use your home.
This summer we celebrated our Chapter’s 40th anniversary and had our 101st Conclave. This is a time to think about what we want to do moving forward.
Thanks to Brothers King and Thomas for attending the DK anti-hazing program.

D. Correspondence Secretary’s Report – Brother Lake
The 2015 Lansing Black College Tour group would like donations. Received an invitation to the Jackson National Life Insurance Steak and Burger dinner for the Boys and Girls Club featuring former MSU basketball player Lauren Aitch. At the University Club on October 29th, tickets are $100.00 each and $800.00 for a table.
Lansing Park and Recreation provided us with forms to use when reserving the Foster Center, the cost last year was $25.00. Received membership card for Brother King. NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner is on October 24th, tickets are $50.00 for adults and $30.00 for youth.
Presented a resolution to Brother Wilhite from our Chapter.

II. Committee Reports

A. Scholarship Committee – Brother Price

No report.

B. Social Affairs – Brother Williams

No report.

C. Social Action – Brother Hearns

Brother Roberts reported.
Please meet at 8 AM for the highway cleanup. Breakfast will not be served this Saturday at Brother Hearns home.

D. NPHC – Brother Do

Brother Roberts reported.
The NPHC has decided to take the lead on the Pat Lake proposal, so the other organizations will just assist in this effort.


E. Education – Brother Scales

Brother Scales proposed combining the Education committee with the Sigma Beta Club and choose one person to head it.

The Haslett High School Black Student Union has begun meeting again.


F. Undergraduate Report – Brother Biddle

Three continuing DK Brothers will graduate this year along with three neophytes. Exploring ways to recruit new members. Epsilon Tau will have to conduct any intake DK has planned for this year. Please come out and support the black alumni tailgate tent on homecoming.

G. Budget and Planning – Brother Green

Brother Roberts agreed to table the budget until our October meeting to allow time for the budget to be revised. Brothers Scales and Lake have agreed to review the budget and make cuts to it.


H. Education Foundation – Brother Mitchell / Huguely

No report.

I. Bigger and Better Business

No report.

J. Technology Committee – Brother Hibbert

Updates made to the website. New Chapter events have been added to the calendar.


K. Sigma Beta Club – Brother Walters

The recruitment efforts at Sexton High School fell short. Will try a different approach to attract attention from the students. Brothers Easterly and Wilhite suggested using a form of social media (i.e. Facebook or Snapchat) or the church.








L. Founders Day Committee – Brother Parker

The Honorable Brother President Mason has agreed to be the speaker at our founder’s day program next year. Our program will begin at 11 AM instead of 5 PM on Saturday January 23, 2016. The Zetas will help us like last year. They may have a tea that Sunday if they can attain their international president.

Motion made by Brother Biddle to accept the founder’s day program budget. Seconded by Brother W. Williams. Brother Scales made a motion to amend the founder’s day budget to include up to $500.00 of additional money to the budget. Seconded by Brother Wilhite, motion carried. Motion made by Brother Caradine to give a gift to the Zeta international president in the amount of $150.00. Motion failed.



III. Old Business

Halloween Party Bro. Watkins – There are still tickets left for Brothers to sell. No caterer has been selected. Party budget presented to the chapter.

Orchid Ball 2016 Bro. Watkins – Considering the Kellogg Center and University Club as possible sites for the ball.

IV. New Business

Soror Cathy Lynch is offering us a chance to learn CPR/ first aid a price of $25.00 per Brother and books are $15.99. We would receive a group rate if we have eight Brothers sign up.

Looking for support for the NAACP dinner on October 24, 2015. Tickets are $50.00.

The chapter will have a holiday party this year. If you would like to help volunteer please contact Brother Middlebrook.

The Nu Alpha Sigma chapter is reaching out to all of the Sigma chapters in the state to help plan our next Conclave in 2017 in Detroit. The Executive Board has decided to have Brother Roberts meet with Nu Alpha Sigma to discuss our role in the planning process.


V. Good and Welfare:

Brother Wilhite – Brother Blockett has flyers for a cruise trip to Cuba and Jamaica. Contact him if you’re interested in going.
Brother Williams is willing to donate $75.00 to purchase an ad for the NAACP dinner if other Brothers are willing to match him.
Brother Huguely – We received a thank you note from the Old Town Marquee.

VI Sigma Spotlight:

Guest Sigma Brother James Blackstock is from Wilmington Delaware, he graduated from North Carolina A&T. He is married with children.
